The Credit Research Analyst role is positioned within our Investments team at Altius, which manages the investment portfolio of the Australian Unity Group. Australian Unity Investments includes its joint venture and investment partners, including Altius Asset Management which is where the focus of this role will be.

 

Altius was established as a joint venture with Australian Unity in 2011. To develop and leverage the full potential of the Altius capability, Australian Unity has progressively acquired full ownership with Altius becoming Australian Unity’s specialist Cash and Fixed Interest Team. Altius has a broad set of capabilities which apply a responsible investment philosophy including sustainable investment, discrete mandates and managed funds.

 

About Your New Role

 

This position provides support to the Head of Credit Research and Senior Portfolio Managers, researching industries and companies for potential investment as well as monitoring companies in which Altius has current holding in. Further, assist with providing coverage of Australian dollar corporate debt, primarily investment grade. Altius also manages ESG aware investments.

 

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Analyse key financial metrics. Identify and evaluate external factors that contribute to the issuer's revenues, cash flow, and credit profile.
  • Collect and analyse industry and company data and trends, sourced through various channels including brokers, rating agencies, investor road shows and online sources.
  • Use existing framework and templates to set up analytical models for companies that are new investments for the portfolio.
  • Analyse financial, management, cyclical, environmental, economic and other drivers that impact a borrower's ability to service debt.
  • Assimilate and filter various sources of information to develop long term, well-researched investment theses.

 

About You

Your expertise and qualifications will include:

 

  • Solid analytical skills, insight. 
  • Tertiary qualifications (business, accounting or economics preferred) combined with hands-on experience (1-3 years) as a Credit Analyst working within corporate finance, investment research (ESG) or accounting.
  • Solid analytical skills and insight with the proven ability to make judgments based on market knowledge.
  • Experience with financial statement analysis, with a sound understanding of loan documentation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
