Join us and let’s make a bigger difference together

It’s an exciting time to be joining Australian Unity – we have grown significantly over recent years and are transforming to capitalise on further growth opportunities to help our customers and employees thrive. We operate with commercial principles and with a strong social purpose to create community value. Australian Unity is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest to join our Wealth & Capital Markets platform

Employing the right people for our business is important not only for the overall performance of the team, but equally important for the culture and for helping our customers to thrive. We welcome interest from both candidates with direct experience as well as applicants seeking to apply transferable knowledge and skills in a new field.

The Wealth & Capital Markets platform comprises the Advice, Investments, Life & Super, Property, and Trustees business units. The strategic purpose of the platform is to link the organisation’s valuable efforts in helping Australians secure their financial wellbeing with capital and social infrastructure needs of the communities.

Advice

The Advice business is focused on helping clients to improve their financial wellbeing and ultimately achieve their long-term lifestyle goals.

The continued change in the regulatory regime for advice services, and resulting increased complexity, continues to reinforce the growing need in the community for valued providers of quality advice and services.  The Advice business seeks growth in this context as a differentiated provider, within a mutual organisation that seeks to look after the real wellbeing of Australians.

Investments

The Investments team manages the investment portfolio of the Australian Unity Group. Australian Unity Investments includes its joint venture and investment partners, Acorn Capital, Platypus Asset Management and Altius Asset Management and collectively manages funds under management and advice (FUMA) of more than $8 billion.

In early 2020, the Investments business successfully launched a new Green Bond Fund with cornerstone investments from Clean Energy Finance Corporation and Crestone. The fund targets investments that will contribute to lower carbon emissions and will include social bonds and green bonds.

Continuing the focus on social investing, the Investments business is also focused on the launch of the Future of Healthcare Fund.

Life & Super

Australian Unity's Life & Super business is Australia's largest investment, education and funeral bonds provider.

Support for Life & Super’s products continues to grow in the independent financial adviser network, and the business continued to work with large industry superannuation funds to broaden access to its products through this large and growing network.

During the last 12 months the business established the direct-to-consumer distribution channel with the launch of 10Invest–a simple, online, low cost investment bond that offers tax effectiveness not available through traditional savings or investment products.

Property

Australian Unity actively manages more than $4 billion in commercial property assets; including the listed Australian Unity Office Fund, unlisted funds in healthcare and commercial property as well as commercial and development debt funding.

The business also recently completed the first capital raising for the Australian Unity Specialist Disability Accommodation fund, which established a new funding source for the delivery of infrastructure that enables Australians living with a disability to achieve lifelong wellness and economic empowerment.

Australian Unity is also the Master Developer of the $1.1 billion redevelopment of the Herston Quarter healthcare precinct in Brisbane. This project is set to provide Queenslanders with access to state-of-the-art health, hospital and aged care services, as well as creating international standard research and educational facilities.

Trustee Services

Australian Unity’s Trustees business was established to provide and make more easily accessible a range of trustee services to all Australians including; estate planning, executor appointments and estate administration, financial attorney, financial and legal administration and the establishment and management of personal, native title, community and charitable trusts.

What makes us, us

Putting people first is not just something we say, it's what we do. We care for our people so they can care for themselves and others. We stay true to our values (Bold, Warm, Honest), we work hard because it matters and we work well together – collaborating, encouraging and even managing to have some fun.

At Australian Unity we do the right thing and we expect the same from others. Being a member-owned company, means we're focused on our members and customers, not shareholder returns. Our purpose "we help people thrive" drives us to make a real difference, every day, big and small. We are passionate about improving the wellbeing of all Australians and about making a positive difference.

We believe everyone should be given opportunities; to be safe, to be encouraged, to be challenged and to grow. And we want you to be the best you can be – to have a go, make it happen, turn opportunities into reality. Together we embrace opportunities to make real life changes.
