Your opportunity


This excellent and newly created ESG role is positioned within our Property business, within the Wealth & Capital Markets platform. Australian Unity actively manages more than $4 billion in commercial property assets, including the listed Australian Unity Office Fund, unlisted funds in healthcare and commercial property as well as commercial and development debt funding. 


The ESG Manager Property will lead the evolution and implementation of ESG strategies across the Australian Unity Property business and its funds. This key role will represent the Property business within Australian Unity and will collaborate with other Australian Unity ESG resources.


The role will offer wide-ranging opportunity to make a positive contribution to our business – from strategy development; to enhancing staff awareness, communications, and education; and implementation of initiatives at an asset level.


About you

The appointed individual will possess the following:


  • Ability to develop and maintain internal stakeholder relationships and lead, engage and influence stakeholders (up to executive level) and cross functional / national teams.
  • Leadership skills to influence change and ensure that Australian Unity property considers ESG issues in daily operations, and an ability to inspire trust and followership in others through compelling influence, passion, and active drive.
  • A natural self-starter, that can take the initiative, constantly improve learning, identify problems and areas of improvement, and proactively present strategies and changes to senior leadership.
  • Adopts a ‘hands on’ approach to be able to implement the ESG strategy.


Expertise and qualifications will include:


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or sustainability/environmental science. Master’s degree highly preferred.
  • Known as a high-performing with deep expertise in property, including holding a thorough understanding of real estate asset management, investor relations, tenant management, and building lifecycles. Further, experience in project delivery and implementing property strategies across a diverse type of assets.
  • In-depth working appreciation of various real estate asset classed, ESG trends and ESG property ratings (i.e. GRESB, Green Star, NABERS), coupled with the demonstrated capability of being able to think and act commercially about sustainability issues, and having successfully developed sustainability policy and frameworks for property organisations.
  • Developed a respected presence in the market via various activities including the participation in external groups regarding ESG related issues for property.
