About our opportunity

As a result of this work and broader demand in the Australian Unity business, we need a dedicated Program Manager to build, develop and implement our Graduate and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment and skilled pathway experiences, shaping the future of our organisation’s capability and culture mission.


Your opportunity is to develop a sustainable and scalable program available to graduates, internships in Clinical & Care and Financial Services.


Your deep community connections accompanied with proven experience creating meaningful student to employee journeys are instrumental in the success of this role. This opportunity paves the way of creating true career opportunities for young Australians who could be in rural, remote, or metropolitan locations. With a footprint of approx. 7000 employees nationwide and ambition to be Australia’s leading wellbeing company, this is a pivotal time to join our team.


As part of this role, you will also have the opportunity to work on our reconciliation goals, and co-design at an enterprise level the indigenous employment program pathways.


** This role could be appointed in either VIC or NSW.


What you will deliver


  • Develop and implement the Graduate and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment strategy designed to create transparent and equitable career pathways at platform and enterprise level.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, to co-develop a sustainable and scalable employee experience true to our employee value proposition and inclusion mission.
  • Build a program designed to help increase overall Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander employment across Australian Unity, underpinning one of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) focus areas.
  • Leverage existing industry, community and education sector relationships to form future alumni groups as well as strategic ‘early career’ talent pipelines.
  • Identify and connect with Universities and TAFE institutions to influence and define partnership opportunities ensuring sustainable targeted relationships.
  • Build our brand and presence of Australian Unity as an employer of choice amongst TAFE’s and Universities
  • Attend leadership and business workshops as the SME for Graduate and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment pathways and influence decisions to support overall objective of program success.


About you


We are searching for a professional who will join us in striving to live our values of bold, warm and honest, in everything we do.


Your knowledge and expertise will include:


  • Previous experience successfully implementing at an organisational level graduate, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and/or diversity & inclusion employment strategy framework.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a successful Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment program would be highly regarded.
  • Interpersonal, empathetic professional, combined with well-practiced skills in program management. Experience developing student to employee programs from design and implementation would be highly regarded.
  • Effective relationship building, storytelling, and collaboration skills with the proven capability to connect, manage and influence key people at senior leadership, enterprise, and local levels.
  • Previous experience in developing or co-developing employment marketing, communication, and awareness campaigns.
  • Proven capability delivering a scalable and sustainable graduate program and all associated processes and experiences.
