The position

The SEO and Search Marketing Lead is the owner of SEO strategy and implementation for the Australian Unity group’s websites and will help drive Australian Unity’s data driven approach to marketing and performance optimisation. This role has a key focus on SEO and is responsible for improving visibility across search engines, leading to tangible improvements in performance. It requires a focus on data-driven decisions, a passion for results, a commitment to action-oriented analysis and a relentless focus on the customer.


You will also contribute to thought leadership and offer technical guidance across paid search. This role is responsible for helping to manage our third-party media agency activity and in-house Google Marketing Platforms.

  • Develop and implement SEO strategies to maximise performance and ROI
  • Analyse organic website traffic and provide recommendations to improve traffic and sales growth
  • Communicate SEO implementation approach, processes and practices to internal stakeholders
  • Conduct technical audits and analysis, identifying areas of improvement and propose actionable solutions
  • Create and share search marketing reports to track performance across Australian Unity websites
  • Demonstrate Agile behaviours that emphasise collaboration, delivery, reflection and improvement
  • End to end accountability for the delivery of digital projects
  • Work with our Digital Acquisition Manager, internal stakeholders and our external search agency to ensure paid search activity is data-driven and cost-effective. (reviewing ad copy, keyword targeting and overseeing budgets and campaigns)
  • Deliver on performance-based objectives which strikes a balance between always on account optimisation and the strategic direction of digital marketing activities.

It is critical in working with the Platform Marketing teams to help achieve leads, sales and acquisition targets. The role must also ensure that external suppliers deliver a consistent, professional and customer-focused top of funnel experience that aligns with both online and offline sales channels performance goals.


About you

We are searching for a professional who will join us in striving to live our values of bold, warm and honest, in everything we do. We are looking for someone with a passion for SEO and Search Marketing, someone who wants to make a real impact working in-house and who will take this role and make it their own.

Your expertise and qualifications will include:

  • Relevant degree qualification preferred
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in Search Marketing (agency or in-house)
  • Well-developed documentation and management practices
  • Experience in shaping priorities and managing different skills within a team
  • Experience with a range of software applications and SEO tools (SEMRush, Screaming Frog, Google Marketing Platform, Google Ads, content management systems, test & learn tools and analytics platforms)
  • Ability to effectively context switch on tasks of varying complexities and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills including technical guidance to users on the use of applications and systems, both verbally and in writing
