Our Opportunity

 

The Tax Manager – Assurance (GST) will play a critical role in the management of GST for the Australian Unity Group, particularly in ensuring compliance with GST legislation and that GST reporting is both accurate and timely. Another primary objective of this role is to ensure source systems, data flow mapping, GST policies and processes are documented as part of the Group’s tax governance framework.

 

In addition, another core component of the role will be the provision of ad-hoc GST advice and technical support to the Group and therefore take accountability for managing the implementation and operational aspects of any GST advice provided.

 

What you will do

 

  • Documentation of the Group’s GST policies, processes and systems in line with the Group Tax Risk Management Framework.
  • Work with the Tax Compliance function and other stakeholders in the group to ensure that the Group’s GST compliance obligations are met within the legislated timeframes.
  • Develop and manage the GST compliance and assurance program to include regular controls testing and GST cross checks around key systems.
  • Provision of ad-hoc GST advice, and manage the implementation and operational aspects around the GST implications associated with business and M&A transactions.
  • Assist with GST assurance reviews and audits (where applicable) conducted by the ATO.
  • Involvement in the technology and operations planning activities for the tax team, including automation initiatives across the GST operations and compliance activities of the Group.  

 

What we are looking for

 

  • Degree qualified coupled with demonstrated experience in a GST function within a Professional Services / Business Services / Corporate environment
  • CA ANZ / CPA / TIA membership would be highly regarded
  • GST governance and documentation of systems, policies and processes
  • GST advisory experience would be highly regarded
  • Proven experience in data analysis and interrogation
  • Strong experience with systems and process mapping
  • Strong stakeholder management with the ability to engage and influence outcomes
